Prehistoric Human Record Books

This Lübeck Haus Bookstore catalogue page presents these books on Cro-Magnon and Neanderthals. On this bookstore's catalogue page are listed books for the Prehistoric Human Record.
It is now widely accepted that by the later Middle Palaeolithic Neanderthals possessed a wide range of social and practical skills. More recently, researchers have become interested in how these skills actually emerged; in effect, the challenge now is to document the process by which Middle Pleistocene hominids "became Neanderthals".
For many, the Neanderthals are an example of primitive humans, but new discoveries suggest that this image needs to be revised. Half a million years ago in Ice Age Europe, there emerged people who managed to cope well with the difficult climate, the Neanderthals. They formed an organized society, hunted Mammoths, made tools, and could make fire. They were able to pass on knowledge; they cared for their old and the handicapped, burying their dead, and placing gifts on their graves. The Neanderthal was a being with developed social behaviour and the ability to speak, to plan precisely, draw life like images on cave walls, and even to develop views on the afterlife.
These books present this information in a clearly written manner usually accompanied with excellent photographic work.
